Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS A HOME INSPECTION?"The purpose and scope of a home inspection is to provide the client with a better understanding of the property conditions, as inspected at the time of the home inspection." The home inspector will perform a visual inspection of the house and provide you with a written report as to the condition of the house.
IS YOUR COMPANY LICENSED?
Mr. Kinsey has been licensed as a Home Inspector by the North Carolina Home Inspector Licensure Board since 1997 and has performed over 3000 inspections. He is a member of the National Association of Home Inspectors and is certified as a Residential Measurement Provider by the National Environmental Health Association National Radon Proficiency Program.
DO I HAVE TO ATTEND THE INSPECTION?
No, it is not necessary for you to attend the inspection. In fact, most of the buyers we represent are from out of state and unable to attend the inspection. If you choose to attend the inspection, the Inspector welcomes the opportunity to answer any questions and point out any areas of concern once he has completed his work.
HOW MUCH TIME DOES A HOME INSPECTION TAKE?
Most home inspections take between two and three hours depending on the size, age and type of foundation. A large or poorly maintained home could take longer.
WHAT CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT RADON TESTING?
Mr. Kinsey has completed the training to become a Certified Radon Measurement Provider with the National Environmental Health Association and can perform a radon measurement test at the client's request. Radon is a cancer causing radioactive gas that comes from the natural radioactive breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water. We recommend that every home area have a radon test because the EPA Map of Radon zones shows a high risk factor for this area.
WHAT TYPE OF REPORT WILL I RECEIVE?
Following the inspection, you will receive a computer generated eleven page report listing all the components inspected and the results of that inspection. All inspections are performed using the Standards of Practice set forth by the North Carolina Home Inspector Licensure Board.
